Academy of Aviation Flight School - Sightseeing Flights

Minutes away from beautiful New York City.

New York City Flight Tour
Only minutes away from beautiful New York City, we are an ideal choice for people who want to fly over Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. The flight takes about an hour and goes along the south shore of Long Island and then over the Hudson River all the way to George Washington Bridge. You will fly over the JFK Airport, lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. You will see Central Park almost directly above and you will fly over the George Washington and Verrasano bridges. What great views!

Weather Considerations

For your maximum enjoyment you are advised to only go for your sightseeing flight when there is good weather and there is no wind or only light wind (10 knots or less). The weather is always changing and there is little we can do about it. While regular students and long time pilots have developed their "weather-coping" skills, many first time small airplane passengers expect the weather to be cooperative simply because they have scheduled a flight and took a day off from their busy schedules. Please make sure to check your local weather station and call our office in advance of coming to the airport to make sure that chances of making the flight on schedule are reasonably good. Please keep in mind that even if we advise you that the weather is good it may deteriorate by the time you come to the airport and that cancellation for bad weather is always a possibility.

Cancellations

For cancellations with less than 24 hours advance notice and in otherwise good meteorological conditions there will be a 35% penalty fee based on the price for 1 hour long sightseeing flight on a Cessna 172. Cancellations for bad weather will, of course, have no penalty fee.
